Robert Reither: Classic Values
Robert "Bob" Reither lived life on his terms. A two-time Ohio State graduate (BS, 1961; MA, 1967), he worked in education of one form or another all his years. He also found a sense of joy in listening to classical music on WOSU. Bob passed away in late 2010 at the age of 81. Jeff and Jo Elin DuBois shared their recollections of Bob and why he chose to provide a part of his estate to WOSU:
"Bob would want to be known as a charitable person. He was generous with others and wanted to set an example for others to give as well. He was a lifelong bachelor who was careful with personal spending and saved all that he could. He knew that would allow him to have the means to be philanthropic, especially during his retirement years," said Jeff.
"Classical music was always a part of his world. When Bob flipped on the light switch inside the door to his house, both the light in the basement and the radio with WOSU came on. Classical music allowed him to relax and recharge. He designated that his charitable bequest be used for the WOSU Classical 101 Campaign Fund to support classical music programming. His appreciation for the arts was fostered by WOSU," shared Jo Elin.
